Begun as an ongoing series in 2014, under the working title ‘It’s All Over For Us Now’. These works on album slip covers and sleeves are the result of sometimes not having any other ideas for paintings, utilising something that is ready-to-hand and quick to work on. Old LPs picked up in second-hand shops, which often go on the record player to provide background music, become like studio companions. Some of the first art I made as a teenager was inspired by looking at record album covers, which I notice seem to be making a bit of a comeback. Current old LPs that go on my turntable include Judy Collins, Randy Edelman, Joan Baez and Charles Aznavour. And Human League’s ‘Travelogue’.
